Things were so tight for us when I lost my job, and I couldn’t get new clothes for my kids or even basics like food or cleaning stuff. Hope 4 Hull gave us clothes, shoes, and blankets. It was like a weight had been lifted off my shoulders. They didn’t just give us stuff—they gave us hope. It’s hard to put into words what it meant to my family.

I ain't got much, and when my baby came, I didn't know how I was gonna get everything she needed. Hope 4 Hull gave me nappies, baby clothes, and milk—stuff I just couldn’t afford. They helped me out when I felt like I had nowhere to turn. I’ll never forget how they made sure I wasn’t on my own. It really helped me get through those first few months.

Christmas was coming, and I just didn’t have the money for toys or anything for my kids. I was worried they’d be upset, but Hope 4 Hull gave them toys and gifts that made them so happy. My little ones were over the moon, and it made me feel good to see their faces light up. I didn’t think I could give them a proper Christmas, but thanks to them, I did. It meant everything to me.

I was really struggling to make ends meet, couldn’t afford food some weeks, and I didn’t know what to do about my bills. Hope 4 Hull helped me sort all that out. They told me where I could get food support and helped me find places that gave out free meals. They also helped me understand how to budget better, and showed me how to get the benefits I was missing out on. I feel like I’ve got my head above water now. I’m not worrying every day about where the next meal’s coming from.

I didn’t know what to do with myself, I felt stuck. But Hope 4 Hull offered me the chance to volunteer with one of their projects, and it’s really changed things for me. Not only am I learning new skills, but they’ve also helped me work towards a qualification, which I never thought I’d be able to do. I feel like I’ve got a real chance to build something for myself now. Volunteering has given me purpose, and I’ve met so many amazing people who’ve supported me along the way. I’m really thankful to Hope 4 Hull for giving me this opportunity—it’s opened doors I never thought would be possible.

I’ve struggled with PTSD, anxiety, and depression for years. It felt like I was trapped in my own mind, and no matter what I did, nothing seemed to help. Then I found out about Hope 4 Hull’s equine-assisted therapy program, and it’s honestly been a lifesaver. Working with the horses helped me feel more grounded, like I wasn’t alone in my struggle. The calmness of the horses and the way they connect with you has helped me deal with emotions I’ve been burying for a long time. I’ve started feeling more in control of my life, and it’s the first time in a long time that I’ve felt a little bit of peace. I’m so thankful for the chance to be part of this program—it’s made a real difference in my healing journey.
