🌿 Submission: The Power and Protection of Spiritual Order

A call for men and women to come under God’s covering.

In many circles today, the word “submission” has been twisted, abused, or avoided entirely. But the reality is this: submission isn’t weakness—it’s warfare. And it’s not just for wives—it’s for every godly marriage. It’s for husbands, too.

Let’s clear this up right now:
A man who is not submitted to God is dangerous.
Dangerous to himself.
Dangerous to his wife.
Dangerous to his family.
Dangerous to the Church.

🚫 The Cost of an Unsubmitted Man

The man who refuses to yield—who stiffens his neck when the Lord speaks—is not strong. He’s spiritually uncovered.

He may lead well in the eyes of the world. He may look like a “man’s man,” respected and outwardly successful. But if he refuses to bow when the Spirit corrects, he is a man out of order. And an uncovered man cannot cover anyone.

An uncovered man cannot cover his wife.
An uncovered man cannot lead his children.
An uncovered man cannot protect his home.
An uncovered man cannot walk in spiritual authority.

Why? Because spiritual authority is delegated, not self-claimed. And authority that isn’t anchored in submission to Christ is counterfeit. It may look powerful, but it has no Heaven backing it.

🔥 The Danger of Self-Ruled Men

When a man lives outside of submission, he opens the door to deception. He may:

  • Crave comfort more than obedience
  • Seek validation more than truth
  • Neglect correction because pride speaks louder than the Spirit
  • Walk in agreement with Satan by choosing rebellion over reverence

“Rebellion is as sinful as witchcraft, and stubbornness as bad as worshiping idols.”
— 1 Samuel 15:23

Let that sink in. A man who refuses to yield—even when surrounded by enemies, even when it costs him everything—is a man who has made peace with the devil’s agenda.

👑 Submission Is For Everyone

Submission isn’t about hierarchy—it’s about spiritual covering.

Ephesians 5 doesn’t just call wives to submit. It starts like this:

“Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.” (Ephesians 5:21)

That’s for husbands, too.

  • A godly man submits to God’s Word.
  • A godly man submits to spiritual authority—mentors, pastors, elders.
  • A godly man submits to the Spirit’s conviction—even when it’s inconvenient.
  • A godly man submits to loving accountability—from his wife, from brothers in Christ.

Submission isn’t silence. It’s strength under authority. It’s choosing obedience even when pride screams no. It’s the pathway to true spiritual authority and divine protection.

⚔️ Submission Is Spiritual Warfare

When a man or woman refuses to submit, they step outside the shelter of God’s order—and the enemy loves disorder. But when we submit to God, the enemy must flee.

“Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”
— James 4:7

Notice: resistance comes after submission. You cannot fight darkness while living in rebellion. Submission is not optional—it is essential for victory.

How Do You Submit To God?

What a beautiful and important question—“How does one submit to God?”
Submission isn’t a one-time act; it’s a daily surrender. It’s not just about what we do—it’s about who we trust. Here’s how someone truly submits to God:

🙇‍♀️ 1. Acknowledge His Lordship

Submission starts with recognizing that Jesus is not just Savior—He is Lord.
That means He has the final say. It means letting go of the need to control your life and letting God lead it.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding…”
— Proverbs 3:5-6

Ask yourself: Is Jesus really the One directing my decisions? Or am I still holding the pen?

📖 2. Submit to the Word

To submit to God, you must submit to His Word.
That means reading it, believing it, obeying it—even when it’s hard, unpopular, or confronts your preferences.

God will never contradict His Word. If you’re unsure what to do, go to the Word. His voice will always align with it.

“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”
— Psalm 119:105

🛐 3. Daily Surrender in Prayer

Submission looks like this prayer:
“Not my will, but Yours be done.”
It’s coming to God each day and laying down your agenda, your desires, your timeline—and asking Him to shape your heart.

Even Jesus, in the garden of Gethsemane, said:

“Father, if You are willing, take this cup from Me; yet not My will, but Yours be done.”
— Luke 22:42

🕊 4. Obey the Prompting of the Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is constantly speaking—leading, correcting, nudging, reminding.
Submitting to God means listening and responding.

When the Spirit says “go,” you go. When He says “wait,” you wait.
When He says “apologize,” “forgive,” “step out,” “be still”—you obey.

Obedience is the language of submission.

🙌 5. Stay Under Godly Authority

God often speaks through leaders and mentors in your life—pastors, spiritual parents, counselors, and even friends.
Submitting to God also means submitting to the authority structures He has placed in your life, unless they clearly contradict His Word.

“Obey your spiritual leaders and do what they say. Their work is to watch over your souls…”
— Hebrews 13:17 (NLT)

God works through order. When you honor that order, you stay covered.

❤️ 6. Trust His Timing and Process

Sometimes submission is about waiting when you want to run.
Or letting go when you want to fight.
Or resting when you want to strive.

God is not just interested in your obedience—He’s forming your character.

“Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for Him…”
— Psalm 37:7

✨ What Submission Produces:

  • Peace in chaos
  • Strength in weakness
  • Protection in battle
  • Purpose in confusion
  • Authority in the spirit realm

🙏 A Simple Prayer of Submission:

“Father, I yield to You. I lay down my will, my plans, and my pride. Teach me to trust You. Lead me by Your Word and Your Spirit. I want to walk in Your will—not mine. You are my Shepherd. You are my Lord. I choose to follow You.”

💬 Final Thoughts

Submission is not a punishment—it’s a protection.
It’s not about control—it’s about covenant.
It’s not about who’s in charge—it’s about who’s in alignment.

For marriages to thrive, for families to flourish, for churches to walk in power—we need submitted men and women. Covered. Yielded. Obedient. Fearless. Faithful.

Because a man under God’s authority is a man Hell fears.
