đż Submission: The Power and Protection of Spiritual Order
A call for men and women to come under God’s covering.
In many circles today, the word âsubmissionâ has been twisted, abused, or avoided entirely. But the reality is this: submission isnât weaknessâitâs warfare. And itâs not just for wivesâitâs for every godly marriage. Itâs for husbands, too.
Letâs clear this up right now:
A man who is not submitted to God is dangerous.
Dangerous to himself.
Dangerous to his wife.
Dangerous to his family.
Dangerous to the Church.
đŤ The Cost of an Unsubmitted Man
The man who refuses to yieldâwho stiffens his neck when the Lord speaksâis not strong. Heâs spiritually uncovered.
He may lead well in the eyes of the world. He may look like a âmanâs man,â respected and outwardly successful. But if he refuses to bow when the Spirit corrects, he is a man out of order. And an uncovered man cannot cover anyone.
An uncovered man cannot cover his wife.
An uncovered man cannot lead his children.
An uncovered man cannot protect his home.
An uncovered man cannot walk in spiritual authority.
Why? Because spiritual authority is delegated, not self-claimed. And authority that isnât anchored in submission to Christ is counterfeit. It may look powerful, but it has no Heaven backing it.
đĽ The Danger of Self-Ruled Men
When a man lives outside of submission, he opens the door to deception. He may:
- Crave comfort more than obedience
- Seek validation more than truth
- Neglect correction because pride speaks louder than the Spirit
- Walk in agreement with Satan by choosing rebellion over reverence
âRebellion is as sinful as witchcraft, and stubbornness as bad as worshiping idols.â
â 1 Samuel 15:23
Let that sink in. A man who refuses to yieldâeven when surrounded by enemies, even when it costs him everythingâis a man who has made peace with the devilâs agenda.
đ Submission Is For Everyone
Submission isnât about hierarchyâitâs about spiritual covering.
Ephesians 5 doesnât just call wives to submit. It starts like this:
âSubmit to one another out of reverence for Christ.â (Ephesians 5:21)
Thatâs for husbands, too.
- A godly man submits to Godâs Word.
- A godly man submits to spiritual authorityâmentors, pastors, elders.
- A godly man submits to the Spiritâs convictionâeven when itâs inconvenient.
- A godly man submits to loving accountabilityâfrom his wife, from brothers in Christ.
Submission isnât silence. Itâs strength under authority. Itâs choosing obedience even when pride screams no. Itâs the pathway to true spiritual authority and divine protection.
âď¸ Submission Is Spiritual Warfare
When a man or woman refuses to submit, they step outside the shelter of Godâs orderâand the enemy loves disorder. But when we submit to God, the enemy must flee.
âSubmit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.â
â James 4:7
Notice: resistance comes after submission. You cannot fight darkness while living in rebellion. Submission is not optionalâit is essential for victory.
How Do You Submit To God?
What a beautiful and important questionââHow does one submit to God?â
Submission isnât a one-time act; itâs a daily surrender. It’s not just about what we doâit’s about who we trust. Hereâs how someone truly submits to God:
đââď¸ 1. Acknowledge His Lordship
Submission starts with recognizing that Jesus is not just SaviorâHe is Lord.
That means He has the final say. It means letting go of the need to control your life and letting God lead it.
âTrust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understandingâŚâ
â Proverbs 3:5-6
Ask yourself: Is Jesus really the One directing my decisions? Or am I still holding the pen?
đ 2. Submit to the Word
To submit to God, you must submit to His Word.
That means reading it, believing it, obeying itâeven when itâs hard, unpopular, or confronts your preferences.
God will never contradict His Word. If youâre unsure what to do, go to the Word. His voice will always align with it.
âYour word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.â
â Psalm 119:105
đ 3. Daily Surrender in Prayer
Submission looks like this prayer:
âNot my will, but Yours be done.â
Itâs coming to God each day and laying down your agenda, your desires, your timelineâand asking Him to shape your heart.
Even Jesus, in the garden of Gethsemane, said:
âFather, if You are willing, take this cup from Me; yet not My will, but Yours be done.â
â Luke 22:42
đ 4. Obey the Prompting of the Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is constantly speakingâleading, correcting, nudging, reminding.
Submitting to God means listening and responding.
When the Spirit says âgo,â you go. When He says âwait,â you wait.
When He says âapologize,â âforgive,â âstep out,â âbe stillââyou obey.
Obedience is the language of submission.
đ 5. Stay Under Godly Authority
God often speaks through leaders and mentors in your lifeâpastors, spiritual parents, counselors, and even friends.
Submitting to God also means submitting to the authority structures He has placed in your life, unless they clearly contradict His Word.
âObey your spiritual leaders and do what they say. Their work is to watch over your souls…â
â Hebrews 13:17 (NLT)
God works through order. When you honor that order, you stay covered.
â¤ď¸ 6. Trust His Timing and Process
Sometimes submission is about waiting when you want to run.
Or letting go when you want to fight.
Or resting when you want to strive.
God is not just interested in your obedienceâHeâs forming your character.
âBe still before the Lord and wait patiently for Him…â
â Psalm 37:7
⨠What Submission Produces:
- Peace in chaos
- Strength in weakness
- Protection in battle
- Purpose in confusion
- Authority in the spirit realm
đ A Simple Prayer of Submission:
âFather, I yield to You. I lay down my will, my plans, and my pride. Teach me to trust You. Lead me by Your Word and Your Spirit. I want to walk in Your willânot mine. You are my Shepherd. You are my Lord. I choose to follow You.â
đŹ Final Thoughts
Submission is not a punishmentâitâs a protection.
Itâs not about controlâitâs about covenant.
Itâs not about whoâs in chargeâitâs about whoâs in alignment.
For marriages to thrive, for families to flourish, for churches to walk in powerâwe need submitted men and women. Covered. Yielded. Obedient. Fearless. Faithful.
Because a man under Godâs authority is a man Hell fears.
